June was a little… Dull.

As the title mentioned, June was not a very happening month for me. As mid-semestral examinations happened during the start of June, I spent my days on the first week of June mugging away at home, which was boring and sad…

However second week came by and it was a mid-term break! Half of my break was given to the South-East Asian games. I was not too keen on the games, but time passed really quick as I spent the entire period with my schoolmates. Oh! I managed to squeeze a few hours for baking. FINALLY!

I baked crunchy oatmeal cookies and Banana loaf.

By the games ended, it was the third week of June, I was most excited about that week as I was going to Bali! I spent 4 days in Bali, chilling, shopping and EATING!

One of the very rustic cafe in Bali. We had breakfast there twice as my Daddy loved it so much. He ordered the veggie omelette with feta cheese. Mum ordered a grilled cheese with ham. Myself, Mashed avocado on toast with poached egg! It was delicious!

After a short getaway to Bali, school immediately started…

This pretty much sums up June. I managed to bake, travel and eat, seems like a pretty awesome June, so this might actually contradict the title but oh well, Goodbye June, Hello July. I do not really know what to expect of July but I hope it is smooth sailing and breezy.

If you would like to find out about the cafe we ate in Bali, it is called Revolver Espresso. It serves brunch and lunch. Coffee is their specialty, they serve smoothies or tea as well. It is a cozy and comfy environment for food and chat session with friends. Highly recommended to visit while in Bali!

A little update…

It has been about 2 weeks since I last posted and I am truly sorry for that. I would make up endless excuses to cover up however, it would not do any good. So, therefore here’s a little update with what has been going on with my crazy life!

School have started after a short 2 weeks break. There were merely much time for myself as I was occupied with work, which was an interesting week of my life. I got to serve athletes from the South East Asian games (SEA games). Half of my break was dedicated to SEA games, it was hectic yet my company was amazing to be around with and therefore that was what made me look forward to work everyday.

Just right before school started, my family and I went for a short trip to Bali. It was as relaxing and delicious as the last time. Soaking in the sun, shopping the streets, devouring the reasonably priced delicacy! It was the break I needed before another insane term starts. Appreciate the time and effort my family put in for this trip. Oh! And I got to experience one of the most gorgeous sunset in my life! It was a sunset that was captivating and beautiful for just 3 minutes. Good days…

Fusion dishes intrigues me!

Often, fusion dishes are just an interesting way to attract customers, in my opinion. Usually I was stray away or think it can never been possible and delicious to combine both unique flavours together, however I was proven wrong.

I was dining at this little cafe one evening and I chanced upon a dish which was tom yum seafood pasta. It was new, it was different and it was rather interesting. I flipped the menu and saw another interesting one. Classic Fish and Chips with tom yum sauce. That dish got me exciting. I was contemplating on the fish and chips and some other mundane dishes. In the end, I went for the Fish and Chips with tom yum sauce. It intrigued me and I had to get it.

The sauce was served in a bowl aside from the Fish. I instantly tried the sauce as I was interested. To my surprise it was spicy and creamy. Who knew it would taste so indifferent from the classic tom yum sauce. It went rather well with the fish however, after the first few bites, I got enough of eating the dish. The tastefulness did not stick for long as it was just a thrill to be having something different. It was not fantastic however, it was worth the try.

Which brings me to my point, fusion dishes can either make it big or be a failure. It is always fun to create fusion dishes, but the taste have to stick around. I love creating fusion dishes for myself, yet I am only confident that I would like the taste. These dishes require acquired taste buds from various people from different race and religion. Hence to all those out there creating new, funky dishes, Best of Luck and I hope to try them someday!

Perspective.

To me, Life is all about perspective. It is your choice to want to think A or B. This might lead you to become what you are feeling. Happy, sad, mad, this feelings are all up to you.

I was chatting with a good friend of mine a while back and thought that you have to think everything with different perspectives. Being stuck with just one thought would not bring you very far. You need to have alternatives.

For example, in an argument, when you decide to push all the blame to another person, think in their perspective. They might mean no harm when they quarrel, they could probably do it for your own good. Which brings me back to my point, see things in different light and when you find the right light there, head towards it, even if it might knock you down a light, head there with a true heart.

I could chose to complain and whine all day with something I disagree and spend this amount of time being upset, but instead I can chose to be happy and be positive that I have a chance to take things to another level to think and suggest ways to improve on the disagreement.

Life is good when you are happy. Do not settle on easy and strike. Thank you for your kind ears and ‘listening’ me out. This is just a little thought I had… Till next time, Ciao~

Gone is the hectic month, May!

School started for close to 2 months now and I am slowly getting the hang of things, such as traveling to school though I really dislike it, the classes and the new classmates.

May has been pretty boring, nothing exciting happened, although I did try this new Korean dessert house, which serves bingsu. Bingsu is a shaved ice dessert with fillings such as red bean, peanuts or chocolate and many many more. The shaved ice have to be icy smooth, so that it easily melts in your mouth once you drop the ice into your mouth.

Such Korean joints have been gaining popularity in Singapore and hence the difficulties in finding an authentic and delicious one. These type of desserts would remain a popular choice because of the humidity and horrid weather Singapore have.

What I ordered was a ground peanut sprinkled on the mountainous shaved ice with rice balls in it. Oh! And I ordered waffles too! The waffles were divine! It had a chewy texture instead of fluffy, it was certainly something different and new!   IMG_2408

Also, I made poached egg on toast and it is beginning to be a weekly weekend brunch for me… Not sure if it’s good or bad…  FullSizeRender

May just swept pass in a blink of an eye… June is going to be another hectic month with loads of activities going on, so stay tune to find out! Till next time, Ciao~
